Hyster Forklift Part - Hyster is globally known as an industry leader in the forklift manufacturing business. However, it began as a producer of lifting machines as well as winches. Most of its production was focused in the northwest United States and dealt mostly with the timber and logging industry. A couple years after the 1st forklift trucks were invented Hyster became synonymous with quality manufacturing. Over the last 80 years Hyster has continued to get bigger and grow its product line. The growth of its products coupled with its want to stay service oriented has allowed Hyster to mature into the international player it is at the moment.

In the period between 1940 and 1960, Hyster continued its growth throughout the western world. In 1946, Hyster opened a plant in Danville, Illinois that was entirely dedicated to mass producing trucks. This allowed Hyster to force its expenses down and, simultaneously, offer a better quality product at industry competitive rates. In 1952, Hyster began its first foray in to the international production market through opening its first plant in the Netherlands. The Netherlands plant was originally designed to produce two products: Hyster 40" and the Karry Kranes.

The ever varying needs of Hyster clientele and Hyster's aptitude to continue to innovate led to rapid development throughout the 1950's and 60's. They started building container handlers in the United states in 1959 to satisfy the ever expanding demand for transportation goods. In 1966, Hyster developed a system for allowing a lift truck to go both ahead and backwards using the same pedal. This pedal was referred to as the Monotrol pedal, which revolutionized the industry. Later on in the decade Hyster opened a R and D centre in Oregon that was focused on improving the design and performance of lift trucks. The centre is still one of the world's greatest testing facilities in the materials handling industry.

As demand for materials handling equipment continued to expand rapidly during the 1960's, Hyster considered it necessary to reorient its focus towards these new mass markets. Accordingly, in 1970, the XL design philosophy was born. The XL design philosophy allowed Hyster to offer superior quality at a more reasonable price. A further expansion in manufacturing capabilities was necessitated by the demand in Europe for Internal Combustion Engine Trucks. To fill this gap, a plant in Craigavon, Ireland was opened in 1980. Through the 1980's Hyster continued to concentrate on developing industry leading lift trucks. The Hyster company name was known throughout the world for its dedication towards quality. This attention to quality brought many suitors for the business. In 1989, a large international company based in Santa Ana called NACCO Industries bought Hyster and started an aggressive growth strategy. NACCO quickly changed the XL philosophy with a more driver oriented truck that concentrated on operator comfort, which is known as the XM generation of trucks.

The changing requirements of Hyster's consumers, led by changes in supply chain management, required Hyster to continuously innovate and make investments in modern manufacturing systems during the next few decades. Acquisitions and investments were made in the US, Italy, Netherlands, and countless other places all over the world. All of these investments have made Hyster a world leader in the lift truck market. In 2009, Hyster celebrated its 80th anniversary as an industry leader of materials handling equipment, which consists of over three hundred assorted styles of forklift trucks.
